MASTER YOUR STATE OF MIND There are four physical states at which your mind can operate. These are characterized by the rate of electrical activity in the brain, which is measured using something called brainwaves. The four states are called: Beta, Alpha, Theta, and Delta. Your brain is in one of these states at all times. There are no other options, nowhere else to go! When you are in BETA state, your mind is actively engaged. You might be in an interesting conversation, making a speech, or doing anything else that requires your full attention. We also spend a lot of our time in ALPHA state. That's when we are still alert but between active tasks. We are conscious but not engaged. THETA state is usually considered a state between sleep and wakefulness. We enter this state when we are daydreaming, lost in thought, or even driving, and always right before we go to sleep. This is the closest waking state to unconsciousness and a time where we get a lot of good ideas and inspiration. Lastly, DELTA state is full sleep. In light Delta, we might be dreaming, and there is even a deeper level where our minds are so relaxed that we don't dream at all.
